RJJ Software is delighted to announce that founder and lead consultant Jamie Taylor will be participating in a trade mission to China and Hong Kong in April 2025. The mission is organised by the West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and will form part of the chamber’s ongoing programme of international trade activity.
The week-long mission will visit three major cities across the region:
- Guangzhou - a global manufacturing and trade hub in southern China
- Shenzhen - widely regarded as one of the most technologically advanced cities on the planet, Shenzhen is home to a remarkable concentration of electronics and technology companies, and has become a global centre for hardware innovation, R&D, and the tech supply chain
- Hong Kong - a world-renowned international financial and business centre
For Jamie, the visit to Shenzhen is a particular highlight. The city’s reputation as a world-leading technology hub, and its diverse ecosystem of electronics and technology businesses, makes it an especially compelling destination for a technology consultancy looking to understand the cutting edge of what is being built and where the industry is heading.
The trip represents a significant opportunity for RJJ Software to explore new markets, engage with potential clients, and build connections with businesses and organisations across a range of sectors. As a technology-agnostic consultancy, RJJ Software is well placed to engage with decision makers and technology leaders regardless of the industry or platforms they operate within.
The mission will take place over the course of one week, from Monday 20th April to Friday 24th April 2025. Despite the condensed timeframe, the already planned itinerary will be intensive; with meetings scheduled with some of the most influential companies and organisations operating across the region.
A Pivotal Moment for UK-China Trade
The timing of the mission is significant. The West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce has noted that the trip comes at an important juncture for UK-China economic relations, with national business leaders calling for a pragmatic, growth-focused approach to engagement with one of the world’s most significant markets.
💭 Key Insight
UK-China trade is worth around £100 billion per year, with more than 10,000 UK firms involved in exporting. The services sector in particular represents a considerable area of opportunity for British businesses.
Steven Lynch MBE, Director of International Trade at the British Chambers of Commerce, has spoken clearly about what business leaders are looking for from engagement with China:
Business confidence depends on stability, clarity and predictability in trading relationships. A focus on targeted engagement alongside strong economic security measures is the balance firms are looking for. They want openness where possible, but safeguards where necessary.
For RJJ Software, this broader context underlines why the mission represents such a valuable opportunity. Engaging directly with businesses and organisations in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong offers a chance to build first-hand market knowledge and establish connections that simply cannot be replicated from afar.
Building on International Momentum
This mission follows RJJ Software’s participation in a similar chamber-led trade mission to the United Arab Emirates in 2025, during which Jamie represented the business and engaged with a range of international contacts. That experience demonstrated the value of chamber-supported international travel as a means of opening doors that would otherwise be difficult to access independently.
Participating in the UAE mission last year opened up conversations I simply would not have had otherwise. China and Hong Kong represent an exciting opportunity to continue that work and to explore what RJJ Software can offer to businesses operating in one of the world’s most dynamic regions.
